One Lord,One Faith,One Baptism
We believe in
God the Father,
the Son, and
the Holy Spirit
We believe in God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that God created the world and everything in it, and that the purpose of all of God’s creation is to glorify Him. We believe that God sent his only Son, Jesus Christ, so that all who believe in him will not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16). Our Lord Jesus Christ “is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation; for in him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. He is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be pre-eminent. For in him all the fulness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.” (Colossians 1:15-20). The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, dwells within us; empowers the faithful and helps in weakness; gives us wisdom and understanding; and guides the church into all truth, glorifying Christ and taking what is Christ’s and declaring it to the church. (1 Corinthians 6:19; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:26; John 16:13-15). The Spirit’s fruits are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23).
We value
Community
We value Community. Jesus prayed, on the night he suffered, that those who believe “may all be one.” (John 17:21). We are an ecumenical Christian church. This means that we seek to worship and serve God with Christians from various denominations and backgrounds. Your experiences and perspective are valuable and help to inform our congregation’s understanding of God’s love and what it means to be a Christian. Yes, our members disagree on some things. . .but we are united in baptism and in our communal confession of Jesus Christ as Our Lord and Savior. We seek to dialogue and serve with churches in our surrounding neighborhood and across the denominational spectrum. Some of our congregants maintain their memberships at other churches while blessing us with their presence from time to time. You are welcome. . .anytime.
We believe in
The Holy Bible
We believe in The Holy Bible. We emphasize education in our faith, study, and prayer. We believe that God speaks to us through Holy Scripture, and we believe that the Word of God, interpreted prayerfully and with exercise of faith and reason, in and through the historical experience and teaching of Christ’s church, is the ultimate authority on all matters of faith; on who God is and who we are; on God’s design for creation; and on our calling and responsibility toward God and our neighbor.
We value
Baptism &
The Lord’s Supper
We value Baptism and The Lord’s Supper. We find our identity in our baptism into Our Lord Jesus Christ. We have been made new creations in dying to our old selves and being resurrected with Our Savior. Our baptismal identity defines who we are and what we are to become in our Christian journey. If you visit our church, you will find that the Lord’s Supper (also called Communion or Eucharist [Greek for “Thanksgiving”]) is an essential part of every Sunday’s worship service. We believe that Jesus established the Lord’s Supper as a memorial to his life-giving death on the cross (1 Corinthians 11:23-26); a sign of the new covenant (Matthew 26:26-28; Mark 14:22-24; Luke 22:17-20); and as a life-giving, strengthening, and sustaining means by which God renews and gives grace to the church. (John 6).
