Matthew, the minister of Christ Chapel – Madaline Terrace, led the establishment of the chapel in fall 2020, having envisioned for a number of years a new, ecumenical, dynamic, and faithful church community in one of the busiest areas of Springfield.   His passion for Christ and His Church inspires him to serve through preaching, teaching, spiritual direction, and actively helping those in need.  Before Christ Chapel – Madaline Terrace began, he served in many roles in churches of various denominations.

Matthew also works as an attorney and mediator, operating his own law firm, J. Matthew Miller, Attorney at Law, and serves as President of the Association of Missouri Mediators. He considers his legal work to be his “tentmaking,” following in the footsteps of St. Paul in using his vocation to enable him to serve the church.  (Acts 18:1-4).

His interests include classic literature; philosophy; and travel—whenever he can—to India, the UK, and Jerusalem.

Matthew recently received his Post-Master’s Certificate in Spiritual Formation from Boston College, and offers Spiritual Direction to anyone seeking spiritual companionship or simply someone to talk with about faith. Please contact Matthew with needs of any kind, from questions about the church to discipleship to spiritual direction.
